First, a disclaimer: This is almost an impossible task. I have set out to produce a rough grouping of Kitchens by price point. Given the variance in how kitchens are priced and what each supplier includes in their Small kitchen (i.e. the starting point for the “from” figure) – there’s no way to have an exact set of data. But I’ve taken what information is out there, and my intention is to give you some idea of where your budget will get you. One thing to remember is that the starting number for the cheaper suppliers is usually nowhere close to what one of their actual kitchens cost because it is so basic and stripped down.
The entry-level kitchen
Wickes – from £500

B&Q – from £800
Magnet – from £1,500
Wren – from £1,500

The IKEA zone
IKEA – from £500

There are so many companies available now to add high-quality doors to your IKEA kitchen – you buy the carcasses from IKEA still, and then the doors from one of these suppliers. The cost of just the doors is what is estimated below.
- Custom Fronts – from £1,600

- Superfront – from £30 t0 £150 per drawer or door front
- Husk – from £1,000

- Holte – from £2,900

- Reform CPH – from £1,700
- Plykea – from £1,700

The Choice of Budget/Trades
Howdens – from…?? they really don’t want you to know until you get a quote, but anecdotally it seems to be in the price-range of a higher spec IKEA.
DIY Kitchens – from £1,100

The Middle Class
80/20 – from £7,000
British Standard – from £8,000
Habitat – Prices from £9,000
Pluck London – from £10,000
The Last Stop before crazy-price-town
Bulthaup – from £12,000
DeVol – from £12,000
Naked Kitchens – from £15,000

The Bespoke and High-end
There are too many options to include them all, each tailored to your desires, needs, and aesthetic. I have chosen a few that are well-known, or that I have lusted after (my lottery-winning-house will have a Jack Trench kitchen). For a list of showrooms near you there is a lovely article by Elle Decoration that is far more exhaustive. As a side note, many of these have had to close for longer than the big-box retailers and haven’t had other business to help sustain them, so if you can stretch your budget a little, you might just find a bargain.
Harvey Jones – from £18,000
Tom Howley – from £25,000
John Lewis of Hungerford – from £25,000

Jack Trench – from £50,000

The Real-Life-Example
To close, here’s a photo of my kitchen – it’s IKEA walnut, with bespoke shelving made out of end panels, and Dekton Trillium worktop ordered through DIY Kitchens, for around £5,500 (not including appliances/sinks/etc).
